PUBLIC NOTICE
CALDWELL PARISH ELECTION
COMMISSIONER-IN-CHARGE INSTRUCTION CLASS
AND COMMISSIONER INSTRUCTION CLASS
 
 
            Cherie Lott, Clerk of Court for the 37th Judicial District Court and Caldwell Parish Custodian of Voting Machines, will hold a general instruction class for all persons wishing to become eligible to serve as election Commissioner-In-Charge in Caldwell Parish and for all persons wishing to become eligible to serve as Election Commissioner in Caldwell Parish.  General instruction classes are open to any interested person.
 
            In accordance with R.S. 18:424, you must have the following qualifications to serve as a commissioner-in-charge.
 
1             You must be a qualified voter in the parish in which you are to serve who is not entitled to assistance in voting.
2             You must not be a candidate for election to public office nor be a member of the immediate family of a candidate for election to
public office in the precinct in which you serve.           
3             You must not have been convicted of an election offense. 
4             You must have successfully completed a general course of instruction for commissioner or commissioners-in-charge. 
5             You must have served as commissioner in at least two elections during the last four years to qualify as a commissioner-in-charge. 
            Persons attending the general instruction class will be given an examination and those passing will be issued a certificate of instruction.  The persons who take the commissioners test will have their name placed on the master list of qualified commissioners in Caldwell Parish effective through June 30, 2028.  The commissioners that take the commissioner-in-charge examination will have their name placed on the master list of qualified commissioners-in-charge in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana for 2025. 
            The school of instruction will be held in the Courtroom, Second Floor, Caldwell Parish Courthouse, 201 Main Street, Columbia, Louisiana on Monday, September 9. 2024.  There will be 2 classes, 10:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M.  You will only need to attend 1 of the classes.  You must appear in person. 
            EVERYONE MUST ATTEND ONE OF THE CLASSES!!! 
            You may also be asked to attend an additional school for the specific election at which you are drawn to serve.
 
            You need not apply to the clerk to attend this school of instruction. 
            The Parish Board of Election Supervisors will meet in the clerk of court office on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 10:00 o&rsquoclock A.M. to select a commissioners for the election held on November 5, 2024.
